Which wedding gown style is right for you?

We’ve all tried on dresses that looked great on the rack but not so great on. Or, found dresses that didn’t seem like something we would like, but looked amazing when we put it on. Bridal gowns are no different. Finding the perfect wedding dress can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Every woman has a different body type, shape, and size. The key is to find a wedding dress that makes you feel amazing and beautiful on your special day, something that hides your problem areas and accentuates your figure.  Figuring out what wedding gown style you prefer will help make the process easier. Luckily, there are many different silhouettes to choose from:

Empire-waisted wedding dress

Empire waisted-gown: The skirt extends from the bustline with this style. If you are looking for a dress that hides your hips, then this is the right style for you!  It accentuates the bust area and hides the stomach.

Trumpet wedding dress

Trumpet gown: A hybrid between the mermaid style and the A-line gown, the skirt of a Trumpet gown flares mid-thigh, creating a gradually-flared skirt, like the bell of a trumpet. This is a great style for women who want to add curves to a straight figure as it accentuates the stomach and hip area.

Empire-waisted wedding dress

A-Line: This gown has a fitted bodice through the waist with a skirt that flares in the shape of an “A.”  This style tends to look good on all body types.

Ballgown wedding dress


Ball gown:
A dress fit for a princess and ideal for most body types, this style has a fitted bodice with a dramatic full skirt flaring at the waist. This style looks amazing on pear-shaped figures as it hides the lower part of the body.

Mermaid wedding dress

Mermaid:  This style is slightly more fitted from the chest to the knee, flaring out at the knee or lower. If you’re not shy about showing your curves, this is the right dress for you! It is ideal for women with hourglass figures or with a slender frame, as it accentuates all the right areas.

Empire -waisted wedding dress

Sheath: This style is slim and form-fitting with a narrow shape flowing from the neckline to the hem. It looks great on petite body types and women with leaner frames.
